Bike Aid Reunion 2021

Alumni of Bike Aid and the Overseas Development Network had a reunion on the 35th Anniversary of the first Bike Aid in the Washington DC area on July 13-18, 2021.  Past participants in Bike Aid and college chapters of ODN from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s attended.    The Reunion consisted of a three day bike ride down the C&O Bike Trail alongside the Potomac River covering 185 miles.   The 27 riders started in Cumberland MD and rode 60 miles to Hancock MD the first day.   The second day they covered 65 miles to Harpers Ferry WV.   The final day they biked 60 miles to Washington DC, ending the ride at the Lincoln Memorial.

The ride was followed by a weekend retreat held at Catholic University in DC.   40 people attended the retreat, which featured spirited discussions of ODN chapters and Bike Aid routes past, a discussion on climate change and what the U.S. Congress is doing about it, and a two hour Zoom call with over 40 more alumni that joined remotely from the US and overseas.     At the retreat it was decided to relaunch Bike Aid in 2022.
