Bike Aid 2022
The Annual Cross Country Bikeathon for Global Development
This coming summer Bike Aid is organizing a cross country bikeathon to highlight solutions to climate change. Cyclists will bike from the West Coast to the East Coast from Mid-June to Mid-August 2022, meeting in Washington DC. Along the way the cyclists will engage in discussions with local communities to discuss the effects of global warming and what can be done to mitigate this in their community.
Bike Aid is currently recruiting riders and hosts for this event. (See Riders Tab for more info for riders)
Hosts provide a free place for the riders to sleep overnight, such as a high school, YMCA, church, community center or a private home. They also provide a complementary dinner the evening that the riders arrive in the town. Groups of riders range from 5 to 15 persons. Each group has a support vehicle which carries the riders belongings. These vehicles are electric, so will require an electric charging station. It is our goal to engage in a discussion with community members and local leaders about climate change and the possible solutions in their community, so hosts are asked to arrange such an event, which may include a press conference with the local media.
